Maamor Che Alias graduated with BBA (1980) and MBA (1982) from Western Michigan University and Marshall University respectively in Finance with minors in Economics and General Business.

He has more than 30 years of experience in project financing and debt restructuring. In the area of project financing, he has been involved in advising, arranging and/or facilitating financing for independent power producers, highways, petrochemical plants via capital market or syndicated financing facilities.

Earlier in his career, Maamor garnered extensive experience in retail, commercial and corporate banking having served at several financial institutions including Bank Bumiputra Malaysia Berhad and Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (BMMB) where he managed its Investment Banking Division and spearheaded BMMB’s foray into the Islamic Capital Market.

In 2007, Maamor was appointed as Senior Vice President of Malaysia Debt Ventures Berhad (MDV) where he was instrumental in establishing its Risk Management Department and in the fund-raising exercise of RM1.5 billion under an Islamic Medium-Term Notes programme.

In 2010, Maamor joined Prokhas Sdn Bhd, an advisory outfit of the Ministry of Finance to head its Corporate Advisory and Capital Market Division where he oversaw fund raising exercises by various government-linked corporations, including the initial funding of RM8 billion for the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (“KVMRT”) system.

He had also served as the Managing Director of Percetakan Nasional Malaysia Berhad from 2014 to 2016, and as the Chief Executive Officer of Prokhas Trustees Berhad from 2017 to 2020.

Presently, Maamor is a member of the Board of Yayasan Pelajaran MARA and is a Principal Consultant at Qwantum Capital Sdn Bhd.
