Johari Mohd. Akhir started his career with Hanafiah Raslan & Mohamad (HRM) in 1975 and was admitted as a Member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (Chartered Accountant) in 1979. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics (Hons.) majoring in Accounting from University Malaya.

He has more than 40 years of experience in auditing, finance, accounting, financial management/advisory, budgeting, planning, business development and fund raising in various industries.

Johari left HRM in 1978 and joined ESSO Production Malaysia Inc and thereafter had a long career in Komplek Kewangan/ Amanah Capital and MIDF group of companies until his retirement in 2007.

Johari was appointed as a Director of BAC Capital Management Sdn Bhd (now known as Qwantum Sdn Bhd (“Qwantum”)) in 2008 where he spearheaded the collaboration with YAYASAN KAJIAN & STRATEGI MELAYU in promoting and supporting Bumiputra companies to list on Bursa Malaysia under Skim Jejak Jaya Bumiputra (SJJB).

During the period from 2011 to 2015, Johari was appointed as a Financial Advisor to a number of companies including Johawaki (M) Sdn. Bhd. and Utem Holdings Sdn Bhd (the holding company of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka).

He served as an Independent Director of Bintai Kinden Corporation Berhad (BKCB) – a company on the Main Market Bursa Malaysia – for a period of 10 years from 2010 to 2021, during which he was a Member of Audit Committee, Remuneration Committee, Nomination Committee and Chairman of Strategic Planning Committee.

In the area of fund raising, Johari has successfully assisted Utem Holdings Sdn Bhd in arranging for a loan facility to acquire a factory lot for its technology campus in Melaka in 2012, and Crusk Assembler Sdn Bhd in arranging for a loan facility to acquire a subsidiary of UMW involved in the business of manufacturing of automotive parts in late 2021.

Johari resigned from Qwantum in November 2010 and was reappointed as an Executive Director in March 2022.
